THINGS TO REMEMBER WHEN CREATING TIMELINES
AND STRATEGY GAMES:
- Generally speaking, timelines run from left to right in a
straight line. Use a ruler and measure the years evenly. For example, 2 cm = 1
year.
- Begin your timeline with the author's birth year, and continue
to the present year.
- Leave enough space between your years to be able to print a
small description for each event. For example, if the author wrote a book every
2 years for 10 years, think about how you would fit in your written
descriptions.
- Do your timeline and game board in pencil first (in case you
need to change something), then trace over with pen or fine point felt
marker.
- Make sure that you have an idea about the main purpose and
rules of your strategy game before you create the board and game pieces.
- Do not make your strategy game too complicated - it may take
too long to create and may lose the interest of others
- Try to capture the purpose of the book in your strategy game,
and try to choose a book that would lend itself well to a strategy game.
- You may wish to model your strategy game after another strategy
game or you may wish to create something entirely different from any game
you've played!
