This project involves creating a report about the author of choice, then memorizing and presenting the report aloud to the class. The report must be comprised of the following:
  1. A cover page with the author's name, a graphic or picture of some kind, and your name
  2. A table of contents page outlining the sections of your report and the corresponding page numbers
  3. A bibliography page at the end of the report showing all resources used for the project (books, websites)
  4. A minimum of three report sections based on the following choices:
    • biographical history of the author (information about the author, both personal and professional)
    • books the author has written (including the dates when published)
    • a summary of one book you have read by this author (minimum one page double-spaced)
    • an opinion composition on why you would recommend this author to other people (minimum one page double-spaced)

STEPS TO FOLLOW IN COMPLETING THIS PROJECT:
  1. Print off the contract and checklist for this project. Fill in and sign the contract and hand it in to your teacher. Keep the checklist in you language arts duotang or another place where you will not lose it and can access it every day of the project.
  2. Follow the remaining steps on your checklist.

CRITERIA FOR MARKING
  • Content - how interesting and detailed is your information, and is it written in clear, complete sentences?
  • Organization - is your report organized into sections, and is each section organized into paragraphs? Do you have a table of contents and is your bibliography completed accurately?
  • Mechanics - do you use appropriate spelling, punctuation, and capitalization?
  • Oral Presentation - is your report memorized? Do you speak clearly, smoothly, and slowly? Do you make eye contact with your audience?
